What is the closing date for entries for the 2012 DONG Energy Solar Challenge?
That date is not yet announced. We will publish it as soon as possible.
The organization has the right to change all data.
Why do we pay an entrance fee?
We have to ask for an entrance fee to cover the costs of the race. Included in this fee are all the meals for all of the team during the race.
The entrance fees are:
Challenge Class A: €1000,- (excl. VAT)
Challenge Class B: €1500,- (excl. VAT)
Top Class: €2.500,- (excl. VAT)
Do we get our entrance fee back if we pull out of the race?
If your team decides to pull out of the 2012 edition of The DONG Energy Solar Challenge, we will pay you back a percentage of the entrance fee. In the Challenge Class this is 50% of the fee, in the Top Class this is 75% of the fee. But only in the case if you pull out before January the 1st, 2012. If you pull out after this date we will not reimburse any ammount or percentage of your entrance fee.
Do we have to arrange our own overnight-stays during the competition?
On all of the locations during the race a campingsite will be provided, these will include showers and toilets. You will have to bring your own tents.
Will food be provided?
Yes we will provide you with breakfast, lunch and diner. Teams have to arrange for their own snacks.
Is there a possibility to not use the number board and instead, attach a clear number sticker along both sides of the boat at the front?
No. We have experienced that some boats are appropriate for a number on the side of the boat, but others because of the shape of the hull not. To make the boats recognizable for the people on the shore, we invented registration panels. For more information about the registration panel, you can read all about this in the technical regulations, chapter 8.
